I technically could swing my dream car right now. Technicalities aside, I still need to save a tad more for my wedding, and put a down payment on a house first. :(

I have been looking at C5 listings for a couple hours, so much sad.

Idea: convince your finance to put away the registry and ask for cash only as wedding gifts.

You get half the cash she gets the other half.

That way some of the money you spend on the wedding comes back to you for the C5

2 years is my timeframe I think: house next spring, save for a year, corvette in spring of '16

Don't worry we all give others and ourselves advice that causes problems. That's what being a gearhead is all about.

Everytime I ask someone on Oppo if I should spend more money on cars or do something responsible the answer is "do the cool car thing". We can't help ourselves.

At this pace I'll probably never even have to worry about a wedding cutting into my car budget as no girl will want to marry someone who spends all of his money on cars. They think it's weird that I have 3 cars and no furniture, blinds/curtains, silverware, food, or the other things you're supposed to have in a "home".

I've been with my girlfriend 5 and a half years, luckily I'm a student so the marriage talk isn't an issue yet. I did have to shell out for a kinda expensive holiday with her though, it's hard to tell her I'm broke after taking delivery of a new PS4. This kinda stuff could delay me getting a nice car soon...

Oh that reminds me - I would get in trouble with those "holiday" things too. I literally will only travel for work or personal trips that I'm obligated to go on (like bachelor parties, location weddings, etc.). Why spend money on a vacation when you could put that money towards another toy??

Exactly I hate travelling if it isn't for something specific. Again I shot myself in the foot there because a few weeks ago I went to a music festival with my roommate, so didn't have much choice but to go somewhere with her. To be honest it's quite shocking I continue to have a girlfriend...

As far as marriage ending in divorce, I prefer to fight the odds. As cliche as it is, I couldn't live without her. Marriage is like a second job, and the reason it ends in divorce is most people do it for the wrong reasons and don't understand you have to work at it. ;)

But yeah, I guess C6 Zr-1 or C2 427, would be more dream car like. But the C5Z really is up there for me, it is one of my favorite designs mated with the modern performance. Lust lust lust

That way we're buying cars at the bottom of their depreciation curve. Worst case scenario they depreciate more softly due to mileage and use. Best case scenario they go up in value

Its in pieces. The body is intact, but the motor and trans are out of the car. Most of the interior is in the trunk as well. Body is straight and rust free (owner is a body man). Luckily my mom went to school with the owner. Dec/January is when the house will be finished, so I hope it's still there.
